This article presents the methodological course and the main results of the doctoral research whose objective was to identify the insertion of the theme Information Literacy in the archival scenario. The research was developed based on three pillars: scientific production in the area, higher education courses and the professional performance of the archivist, which guided the methodological path divided into three phases: 1. Systematization of research themes, built through the Bibliographic Research, in order to theoretically support the following phases and outline an overview of the areas and their interrelationships.; 2. Development of the case study, divided into three stages: Systematic Bibliographic Review; Documentary research and questionnaire. 3. Development of theoretical and practical subsidies of Information Literacy applicable to Archival Science, whose product was configured in the instrument “Conceptual Dimensions for the insertion of Information Literacy in the Brazilian archival scenario” elaborated by the triangulation of the results obtained in phases 1 and 2. The purpose is for this instrument to be configured as the theoretical-conceptual basis for the precepts of Information Literacy to be inserted in the scope of Archival Science, in the axis of training and professional performance and in the construction of a relevant theoretical framework that meets both the academic- archival science, as well as other disciplines that establish relationships with Archival Science and, mainly, can be reflected in concrete actions that benefit society as a whole.
