The use of Instagram by the Memory Conservation Center of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora

Resumo: Archival institutions can make use of social networks to disseminate their collections and approach users who are increasingly present in digital channels. Intending to explore the possibilities of using Instagram, this article presents an exploratory study of posts made on this social network by the Memory Conservation Center of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (Cecom UFJF), selected probabilistic sampling, and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Qualitative research was also carried out through the application of interviews with users who interact with the content published on this channel. Followers of Cecom UFJF make up a diverse audience that still shyly interacts with the institution. The publications that generate the most engagement with the public are those related to the dissemination of the collection and the heritage of Juiz de Fora. It was found that Instagram can be a great option for archival institutions and the like to work with the dissemination of their collections, as it facilitates the reach of quantitatively and qualitatively diverse audiences.

Con el objetivo de explorar las posibilidades del uso de Instagram, este artículo presenta un estudio exploratorio de publicaciones realizadas en esta red social por el Centro de Conservación de la Memoria de la Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (Cecom UFJF), seleccionadas por muestreo probabilístico y analizadas utilizando estadísticas descriptivas. También se realizó una investigación cualitativa mediante la aplicación de entrevistas a usuarios que interactúan con el contenido publicado en este canal. Los seguidores del Cecom UFJF son un público diverso que todavía interactúa tímidamente con la institución. Las publicaciones que generan más compromiso con el público son las relacionadas con la difusión de la colección y el patrimonio de Juiz de Fora. Se percibió que Instagram puede ser una gran opción para las instituciones de archivo y afines para trabajar con la difusión de sus colecciones, ya que facilita el alcance de públicos cuantitativa y cualitativamente diversos.As instituições arquivísticas podem lançar mão do uso das redes sociais para difundir seus acervos e se aproximar dos usuários cada vez mais presentes em canais digitais. Com vistas a explorar as possibilidades de uso do Instagram, este artigo apresenta um estudo exploratório das postagens realizadas nesta rede social pelo Centro de Conservação da Memória da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (Cecom UFJF), selecionadas por amostragem probabilística e analisadas com o emprego de estatísticas descritivas. Também foi empreendida uma pesquisa qualitativa por meio da aplicação de entrevistas com usuários que interagem com o conteúdo publicado neste canal. Os seguidores do Cecom UFJF formam um público diverso que interage ainda de maneira tímida com a instituição. As publicações que geram mais engajamento com o público são as relacionadas à difusão de acervo e ao patrimônio de Juiz de Fora.
