The "Maria da ilha" between documents and memory: reflections on the archives of State Deputy Antonieta de Barros (1901-1952)

: The study presents the mapping of the custodial institutions of the documentation of Antonieta de Barros and the documentary survey regarding typologies, temporal cut, quantity, state of conservation and access to these documents. It presents a brief biography of the personality researched and a brief discussion about the concept of memory in the archive. The methodology of the research is basic and qualitative. From the point of view of the objectives the research is classified as exploratory and the technical procedures are the documentary and bibliographic research. The data collection was based on a doctoral thesis in history of 2010 of the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, which pointed out seventeen institutions maintaining documentation on Antonieta de Barros. However, it was verified that not all of these institutions have documents of her in their collection. The main result of the research is the finding that the personal archive of Antonieta de Barros is dispersed and vulnerable, requiring archival management actions, and especially the diffusion and preservation of its documentary heritage.
