In the organizational context, the appropriation, generation, dissemination, use and reuse of registered information enhances the competitiveness of organizations, since the information, explicit and formal - repository memory, is based on artifacts that enhance assertive decisions for the formation of organizational memory. In this context, In this context, this work aims to highlight the importance of records management and information management to enhance the actions aimed at organizational memory, whose focus is interrelated to the repository memory - materialized by a support (physical or digital) and composed of formal and explicit information and knowledge that can be registered, preserved, structured and recovered, providing greater efficiency to the processes of accessing, obtaining and using information recorded in organizational environments. Methodologically, the research is qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory and constitutes a non-systematic literature review on the subject. It is considered that this text can contribute to and enrich the theoretical framework of the scientific field of Information Science, with regard to records management and information management as management models that support the constitution of organizational memory, as making use of registered, explicit, formal information, based on mistakes and successes already experienced, potentiate assertive decision making in the organizational environment.
