School archive as a historical source of information: the case of Colégio Estadual Barros Barreto – Salvador/Bahia

Resumo: School institutions produce several documents with evidentiary values, which characterizes the importance of conservation and preservation of their documentary collections and their potential as sources of historical information. This work starts from the problem about the document treatment of public-school archives and its historical, institutional and cultural importance for the construction of collective memory. Its objective is to associate the disciplinary activities of the professional archivist with a social and cultural perception present in school documents, in a joint and structured way. This is qualitative research and the investigation method adopted was the case study at Colégio Estadual Barros Barreto, located in Salvador/Bahia. The methodological path followed with data collection, using the technique of intensive direct observation and an unstructured interview. The results pointed to the demand for the implementation of an archive policy that meets the needs of the institution, through the adequacy of the Archive in all regulatory norms and recommendations required that make the exercise of work feasible, and possible dissemination of the school collective memory. It is concluded that the understanding of the School Archive as a historical source of information sparks reflection on new interpretations about the archival document, which include the preeminence of an interdisciplinary dialogue that emerges both from the theories and techniques used for the treatment, organization, management and dissemination of these documents and in the investigations present in the Humanities about possible historical investigations from access to these primary sources of information present in the archives of school communities.

Este trabajo parte de la problemática sobre el tratamiento documental de archivos de escuelas públicas y su importancia histórica, institucional y cultural para la construcción de la memoria colectiva. Tiene como objetivo asociar, conjunta y estructuradamente, las actividades disciplinares del archivista a una percepción social y cultural presente en los documentos escolares. Se trata de una investigación cualitativa, cuyo método investigativo fue el estudio de caso en el Colégio Estadual Barros Barreto, ubicado en Salvador/Bahia. El trayecto metodológico siguió con la recolección de datos, utilizando la técnica de observación directa intensiva y una entrevista no estructurada. Los resultados indicaron la demanda de implementación de una política de archivo que atienda a las necesidades institucionales, mediante la adecuación del Archivo a todas las normas reglamentarias y recomendaciones exigidas que viabilicen el ejercicio laboral, y posible diseminación de la memoria colectiva escolar. Se concluye que la comprensión sobre el Archivo escolar como fuente histórica de información enciende la reflexión sobre nuevas interpretaciones acerca del documento archivístico, que incluyen la primacía de un diálogo interdisciplinario que emerge tanto de las teorías y técnicas utilizadas para el tratamiento, organización, gestión y diseminación de estos documentos, cuanto en las investigaciones presentes en las Humanidades sobre posibles investigaciones históricas a partir del acceso a estas fuentes primarias de información presentes en los archivos de comunidades escolares.Instituições escolares produzem diversos documentos com valores probatórios, o que caracteriza a importância da conservação e preservação de seus acervos documentais e sua potencialidade enquanto fontes de informação histórica. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa e o método de investigação adotado foi o estudo de caso no Colégio Estadual Barros Barreto, localizado em Salvador/Bahia. O caminho metodológico seguiu com coleta de dados, utilizando a técnica de observação direta intensiva e uma entrevista não estruturada. Os resultados apontaram para a demanda de implementação de uma política de arquivo que atenda às necessidades da instituição, por meio da adequação do Arquivo em todas as normas regulamentadoras e recomendações exigidas que viabilizem o exercício do trabalho, e possível disseminação da memória coletiva escolar.
