Resumo: The archivist is a multidisciplinary professional. His work includes the planning of policies and programs for records management, organization, monitoring, advising and directing archival institutions and archive services. This work aims to show the facets of the archivist, his pedagogical role, his role as an instructor in the current and intermediate archives, as facilitator of the diffusion process of the permanent archives and as mediator of access to information in the archival documents, trying to demonstrate his multidisciplinary performance institutions. The right to information leads the archivist to the heart of his / her function, to organize, select, represent and make available the archival documents guaranteeing access. Although they are many activities of the archivist, this one does not work alone, being its actions ratified and supported by the professionals of other areas, maximizing its action. It is concluded that the work of the archivist, multitasking, is only beginning, since the documentary production is constant, just as the changes in the production processes are progressive.

Seu trabalho perpassa pelo planejamento de políticas e programas de gestão de documentos, organização, acompanhamento, assessoramento e direção de instituições arquivísticas e serviços de arquivo. Este trabalho objetiva mostrar as facetas do arquivista, sua atuação pedagógica, seu papel como instrutor/orientador nos arquivos correntes e intermediários, como facilitador do processo de difusão dos arquivos permanentes e como mediador de acesso a informações nos documentos arquivísticos, tentando demonstrar sua atuação multidisciplinar nas instituições. O direito a informação leva o arquivista ao cerne da sua função, organizar, selecionar, representar e disponibilizar os documentos arquivísticos garantindo-lhes acesso. Embora sejam muitas atividades do arquivista, este não trabalha sozinho, sendo suas ações ratificadas e apoiadas pelos profissionais de outras áreas, maximizando sua atuação.
