Resumo: This paper aims to present research in development under the Programa de Pós-graduação em Ciência da Informação (PhD) – Escola de Ciência da Informação/Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais – , whose theme is The legal exceptions to the right to access to information: contextual dimensions of the categories of personal information in the archival documents as well as preliminary data collected in its first stage. After an initial survey, relative to the first two years of implementation the Law of Acces to Information (Brazilian Federal Act 12.527/2011), in the Federal Executive Power, it was found an inaccuracy regarding the words personal information, intimacy, privacy, honor and/or image and confirmed the need to carry out a study on the subject in question.
