Resumo: This paper aims at investigating how the theme is constituted in the genre known as online comment, considering Bakhtin’s idea (2010 [1929 -1930]) which assures that the theme is the ideologized content comprehending both verbal and non-verbal material, built up socially and historically, in a certain culture, involving interlocutors in actual situations. The corpus for analysis comprehends some comments online displayed on the website of Meio Norte channel (Teresina – PI) and on the website of the TV News Hoje, of national circulation, referring to three different social facts which are also potentially controversy generators. The research has shown that the wish for justice is one of the most recurrent themes on online comments and that the theme of the genre “online comment” is characterized, simultaneously, by tipification and innovation, inasmuch as although it shows recurrent features, in other words, common traces, it also goes through innovation (update) according to the social happenings and to the different enunciating situations.

El corpus elegido para el análisis es formado por comentarios en línea sobre noticias y de otros comentarios en línea divulgados en el sitio Meio Norte y en el sitio del Jornal Hoje, los cuales se refieren a tres factores sociales distintos y potencialmente generadores de polémica. La investigación demostró que el deseo de justicia es uno de los temas más recurrentes en los comentarios en línea investigados y que el tema del género comentario en línea es marcado, a la vez, por tipificación e innovación, teniendo en cuenta que, aunque presente rasgos recurrentes, es decir, comunes, también sufre innovación (actualización) a partir de los acontecimientos sociales comentados y de las diferentes situaciones enunciativas. O presente artigo objetiva investigar como se constitui o tema no gênero comentário online a partir da ideia de Bakhtin (2010[1929-1930]) de que tema é o conteúdo ideologizado do qual fazem parte tanto o material verbal quanto o extraverbal, construído sócio-historicamente, numa dada cultura, envolvendo interlocutores em situações reais de uso. O corpus escolhido para a análise é constituído de comentários online acerca de notícias e de outros comentários online divulgadas no portal Meio Norte e no portal do jornal Hoje, os quais se referem a três fatos sociais diferentes e potencialmente geradores de polêmica.
