Developmental teaching and its challenges for teacher training: a personal report based on the teaching of academic writing in English

Resumo: Vygotsky is a well-known author in the field of education and applied linguistics. However, pedagogies based on his assumptions are less publicized. At a time when education in general and, more specifically, language teaching, becomes more instrumental and neoliberal, this article aims to reclaim the relevance of V.V. Davydov and his pedagogy (DAVYDOV, 1988) for the transformation of the current educational context. I seek to present this contribution by describing the approach, and by discussing the challenges imposed on teachers and students, as well as their confrontation through my implementation of this pedagogy in courses of academic writing in English.

Sin embargo, las pedagogías basadas en sus supuestos son ahora menos extendidas. En un momento en que la educación en general y, más específicamente, la enseñanza de idiomas se convierte en más instrumental y neoliberal, este artículo objetiva rescatar la corriente VV Davydov y su pedagogía (educación de desarrollo) (DAVYDOV, 1988) a la transformación del contexto educativo actual. Trato de mostrar la contribución al describir el enfoque y discutir los retos a los profesores y estudiantes y su superación a través de mi implementación de esta pedagogía en los cursos de escritura académica en Inglés.  Vygotsky é um autor bastante conhecido na área da educação e da linguística aplicada. Entretanto, pedagogias baseadas nos seus pressupostos já são menos conhecidas. Nesse artigo, explico a perspectiva do ensino desenvolvimental (DAVYDOV, 1988), abordagem pedagógica baseada nos pressupostos da teoria histórico-cultural, e discuto suas contribuições para a transformação do estado atual da educação e os desafios impostos para a formação de professores nessa perspectiva.
