Resumo: | Onomastic studies, when integrated to lexicology, show that, through their given names, men express ideas and feelings, and convey values and discursive practices. By observing the community in the city of Cascavel, Paraná State, we noticed that the city’s Italian cultural context is reflected not only in ethnic movements and language courses, but also in the names of public, residential and commercial places. To analyze the names of some places in Cascavel in relation to ethnicity, we classified the nominal designation of public places through the website of the Municipal Government of Cascavel and additional information from other websites. Subsequently, the research was developed by identifying the names of Italian ethnicity and observing the taxonomy of toponyms in order to reflect upon the designations that somehow are related to Italian descendants. |

Observando la comunidad de Cascavel, percibimos que el contexto de la cultura italiana en la ciudad puede ser visualizado no solo en movimientos étnicos y por los cursos de lengua, sino también por medio de nombres de sitios públicos, residenciales y comerciales. Para analizar los nombres propios de algunas calles de Cascavel en relación a dicha etnia, fue realizada una averiguación clasificatoria de las designaciones nominales de los espacios públicos, por medio del sitio web del Ayuntamiento de Cascavel, con complementación de otros sitios web. Se desarrolló la investigación, identificando los nombres de origen étnica italiana, observando la taxonomía de los topónimos para reflexionar acerca de las designaciones que se relacionan, de alguna manera, a los ítalo-descendientes.Os estudos onomásticos, ao se integrarem à lexicologia, evidenciam que, por meio do nome próprio, o homem expressa ideias, sentimentos e transmite valores e práticas discursivas. Observando a comunidade de Cascavel, Paraná, percebemos que o contexto da cultura italiana no município pode ser visualizado não apenas em movimentos étnicos e pelos cursos de língua, mas também por meio de nomes de lugares públicos, residenciais e comerciais. Para analisar os nomes próprios de alguns logradouros cascavelenses em relação a essa etnia, foi realizado um levantamento classificatório das designações nominais de espaços públicos, por meio do site da Prefeitura de Cascavel, com complementações de outros sites.
