Resumo: This article develops a bibliographical exploratory research that seeks to identify Marxist epistemologies produced by and in the global south that turn to the interpretation and understanding of the urban happening of underdeveloped countries on the periphery of globalized capital, focusing on Brazil. In this sense, it presents theoretical perspectives of Milton Santos, Brazilian Marxist geographer, who from the concepts adopted about southern epistemologies, based on Boaventura de Souza Santos and Aníbal Quijano, can be understood as movements of knowledge production that are opposed to Eurocentric theories and the global north and thus present themselves as an alternative to the dominant epistemologies in the social sciences related to the understanding of the urban issue. Thus, to the extent that the theoretical perspectives indicated are configured as eminently Marxist in nature, this work launches reflections, and ultimately affirms, on the possibility of thinking decolonial Marxist epistemologies, or in other terms, the decolonization of Marxism.
