Resumo: Discourse genres, as well as other aspects of human experience, change and become more complex over time. Digital technologies and multimodality have transformed, for example, the way of producing and consuming contemporary literature. In this context, the fan culture, configured as a convergence culture, includes aesthetic productions of different fan groups, made in dialogue with products that already exist in the cultural industry. These groups, characterized as discursive communities, create new multimodal fictional textualities, such as those presented under the label of AU (Alternative Universe). This article aims to discuss aspects of this new genre, from our point of view - contrary to popular belief - not subordinate to fanfic genre. Therefore, we analyze here a Larry AU entitled “No. 309” (which focuses on the shipping of the singers Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson), seeking to reflect on issues related to the compositional structure, thematic content, and style of the genre, under a Bakhtinian perspective. Other concepts such as multimodality, post-autonomous literature and queer crowd are also adopted to support the discussion around this innovative genre.
