Resumo: | In a country of continental dimensions such as Brazil, it is crucial to the detailed analysis of the potential of each region. The concern with the geographical distribution of postgraduate studies in Brazil has been the subject of constant debate. Scientometrics studies have contributed to the development of science and technology in the country in addition to collaborating with research indicators on different topics. Were raised indicators as in education, PhDs in Education, scientific production, population, IDEB and IDH. The sources studied were from the Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics - IBGE Coordination for Enhancement of Higher Education Personnel - Capes, Ministry of education-MEC and Program of United Nation for Development in Brazil - PNUD. The analysis of the spatial distribution of the in education through Brazil reinforces the great voids in terms of staff training at this level in a strategic area for development of the nation |

A preocupação com a distribuição geográfica da pós-graduação no Brasil tem sido tema constante de debate. Estudos cientométricos têm contribuído para o desenvolvimento da ciência e da tecnologia no país, além de colaborar para pesquisas com indicadores sobre diferentes assuntos. Foram levantados indicadores como número e conceitos de PPGs em Educação, doutores, produção científica, população, IDEB e IDH. As fontes pesquisadas foram do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística - IBGE, Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - Capes, Ministério da Educação - MEC, Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq e Programa das Nações Unidas para o Desenvolvimento - PNUD.
