Resumo: Objective: Introduces the evolution of scientific production related to people with shortcoming in the Science Information in Brazil in the period from 2000 to 2018.Methods: This is a descriptive and exploratory research with quantitative and qualitative approaches. It uses the Thesis of Dissertation Catalog from Capes as a basis to recovery the scientific production to be examined. Results: The main goal is to analyze the panorama of the output of theses and dissertations in the science information area in Brazil about the issues surrounding people with disabilities. It was verified that from 2000 to 2003 there was no scientific production, being the first task stated only in 2004, maintaining an average of one to three tasks until 2012 and an increase in production from 2013, possibly due to increased debates and greater visibility of the matter in previous years in the context of events and the specific federal legislation approval as well as the disclosure of a high index of people with disabilities in Brazil, according to Censo in 2010.Conclusions:The most productive institutions in the area are Federal University of Paraiba with seven productions and University of Brasilia, Paulista State University Júlio de Mesquita and Federal University of Minas Gerais with six reviews each. Researchers from librarianship and studies focused on the visually impaired represents approximately 50% of the tasks respectively
