Gamification in online education: proposal for a participatory learning model

Resumo: | Empirical studies have suggested limitations on the form of application of gamification mechanics in the context of online education. These mechanics have been applied without reference to a theoretical model dedicated to this type of education. The objective of the paper is to propose a model for a gamified platform for online education that contributes to a more participatory learning, taking into account the different student profiles. Based on literature review about approaches to gamification systems design, a set of steps was followed in order to develop a generic model for a framework dedicated to online education. The model proposed is based on the Educational Gamification Design Principles proposed by Dicheva et al. (2015). The model may contribute to the promotion of participatory learning, taking into account the different student profiles. The results of such evaluation will be published in the future. |

Tales mecánicas se aplican sin referencia teórica a un modelo orientado a este tipo de educación. El objetivo del presente trabajo es proponer un modelo de plataforma gamma de educación online que contribuya con el aprendizaje participativo, teniendo en cuenta los diferentes perfiles de estudiantes. Con base en la revisión de la literatura sobre los enfoques para el diseño de sistemas gamificados, se ha seguido un conjunto de pasos para elaborar un modelo genérico de plataforma de educación online en línea. El modelo propuesto se basa en los Principios del Diseño Educativo Gamificado de Dicheva et al. (2015). El modelo puede contribuir con la promoción del aprendizaje participativo, teniendo en cuenta los diferentes perfiles de los estudiantes. Los resultados de dicha evaluación se publicarán en el futuro.Estudos empíricos apontam limitações em relação à forma de aplicação das mecânicas da gamificação no contexto da educação online. Tais mecânicas são aplicadas sem referência teórica a um modelo voltado a este tipo de educação. O objetivo do presente trabalho é propor um modelo de plataforma gamificada de educação online que contribua com a aprendizagem participativa, levando em consideração os diferentes perfis de estudantes. Com base na revisão da literatura sobre abordagens para o design de sistemas gamificados, um conjunto de passos foi seguido a fim de elaborar um modelo genérico de plataforma gamificada de educação online. O modelo proposto se baseia nos Princípios do Design Educacional Gamificado de Dicheva et al. (2015).
