Resumo: This article presents a theoretical research based on a literature review on the clown in Physical Education classes at school. Reviewed articles were published in journals evaluated by the Qualis Capes system. The objective was to verify whether there is the presence of the clown, and how the clown is presented in these articles. The reviewed sample included scientific productions that addressed circus activities in Brazilian Physical Education programs, published between the years 2010 and 2019. Fifty publications were found, of which 10 address the clown, in 5 of them the clown was developed as one of the contents of the classes. Further references in texts the word clown was only quoted. Therefore, this linear development of historical contexts and possible scenic clown games serves as background proposal to be worked on in Physical Education classes.

El objetivo fue verificar, en producciones científicas que abordan las actividades circenses en la Educación Física brasileña, publicadas entre los años 2010 y 2019, si existe la presencia del payaso, y cómo se presenta el payaso en estos artículos. Se encontraron 50 publicaciones, de las cuales 10 se refieren al payaso, en 5 de ellas se desarrolló el payaso como uno de los contenidos de las clases, en el resto de textos solo se cita. Por ello, se propuso en este trabajo un desarrollo lineal de los contextos históricos y posibles juegos de payasos escénicos a trabajar en las clases de Educación Física escolar.O presente artigo apresenta uma pesquisa teórica realizada a partir de uma revisão de literatura sobre o palhaço/clown nas aulas de Educação Física escolar, em artigos publicados em periódicos avaliados pelo sistema Qualis Capes. O objetivo foi verificar, em produções científicas que abordam as atividades circenses na Educação Física escolar brasileira, publicadas entre os anos de 2010 e 2019, se há a presença do palhaço/clown, e como o palhaço é apresentado nesses artigos. Foram encontradas 50 publicações, das quais 10 abordam o palhaço/clown, em 5 delas o palhaço foi desenvolvido como um dos conteúdos das aulas, nos outros textos ele é apenas citado.
