Physical Education and public health: two lessons that pandemic teaches us about the importance of this link

Resumo: | The Covid-19 pandemic interrupted hundreds of thousands of lives in Brazil. Sanitary measures and prevention practices required adjustments in the organization of work and leisure. The practice of physical activity was one of the habits affected and, consequently, the work scenarios for Physical Education professionals. The text presents a critical reading of the pandemic impacts to argue in favor of the importance of the link between Physical Education and Public Health. Two hard lessons that the pandemic imposes on the relationship between health and society in a broad way will be discussed, and then draw a parallel to the Physical Education context. It is concluded that a closer approach between Physical Education and Public Health contributes to a concept of health aligned with the defense of life, respect for difference, social justice, love and vitality. |

Las acciones de afrontamiento y las prácticas de prevención exigieron ajustes en la organización del trabajo y del ocio. La práctica de actividad física fue uno de los hábitos afectados y, consecuentemente, también los escenarios de actuación de los profesionales de la Educación Física. El texto presenta una lectura crítica de los impactos de la pandemia para argumentar a favor de la importancia del vínculo entre la Educación Física y la Salud Pública. Se problematizarán dos duras lecciones que la pandemia impone a la relación entre salud, sociedad y Educación Física. Se concluye que una mayor aproximación de la Educación Física a la Salud Pública contribuye a que el concepto de salud que operará en sus diferentes escenarios de acción esté alineado con la defensa de la vida, el respeto a la diferencia, la justicia social, el amor y la vitalidad.A pandemia de Covid-19 ceifou centenas de milhares de vidas no Brasil. Ações de enfrentamento e práticas de prevenção exigiram adequações na organização do trabalho e do lazer. A prática de atividade física foi um dos hábitos afetados e, consequentemente, os cenários de atuação de profissionais de Educação Física também. O texto apresenta uma leitura crítica sobre os impactos da pandemia para argumentar em favor da importância do enlace entre Educação Física e Saúde Coletiva. Serão problematizadas duas duras lições que a pandemia nos impõe sobre a relação saúde e sociedade de forma ampla, para depois traçar um paralelo ao contexto da Educação Física.
