Resumo: This article is the result of an investigation that focused on understanding how the accomplishment of the academic master's degree, by Physical Education teachers of the Santa Maria/RS Municipal School, has repercussions on the professional development process of these teachers. The study was developed through literature review and biographical interviews (semi-structured). The focus of analysis was the academic master's degree and its consequences in the professional development of teachers. Thus, it was understood that the process of professional development to a large extent seems to have been influenced by the completion of the academic master's degree in different ways. The diversity present in the processes of accomplishment of the academic masters does not prevent a convergence in relation to the recognition of the repercussion of the masters on the pedagogical practices for some teachers or, on the teaching identity of some of them.

El estudio fue desarrollado a través de revisión de literatura y entrevistas biográficas (semi-estructuradas). El foco del análisis fue el máster académico y sus consecuencias en el desarrollo profesional de los docentes. Por lo tanto, se entendió que el proceso de desarrollo profesional en gran medida parece haber sido influenciado por la finalización del máster académico de diferentes maneras. La diversidad presente en los procesos de realización de los maestros académicos no impide una convergencia en relación con el reconocimiento de la repercusión de los maestros en las prácticas pedagógicas para algunos maestros o, en la identidad docente de algunos de ellos. Esse artigo é resultado de uma investigação que visou compreender de que modo a realização do mestrado acadêmico, por professores de Educação Física da Rede Municipal de Ensino de Santa Maria/RS, repercute no processo de desenvolvimento profissional desses docentes. O estudo teve por base a revisão de literatura e entrevistas biográficas (semiestruturadas). O foco de análise foram o mestrado acadêmico e seus desdobramentos no desenvolvimento profissional docente. Assim, compreendeu-se que o processo de desenvolvimento profissional, em grande medida, parece ter sido influenciado pela realização do mestrado acadêmico de diferentes formas.
