Academic formation in Physical Education and professional intervention at the Gym

Resumo: | The aim of this research was to analyze how Physical Education professionals at a gym assess their academic formation and, consequently, their professional performance. We tried to evidence why licensed teachers are working at gyms and not at school. A bibliographical review was carried out regarding the market; license/ bachelor degree and curriculum. Testimonies from twelve professionals (six licensed teachers and six bachelors) were collected. It was verified that the professionals did not consider the habilitations for professional performance and consider their first formation as inadequate to work at the gym. Professionals who intend to follow an academic career because they consider the school as a possibility of professional stability and financial security and, also, as an alternative to work because of the short career offered by gyms. The necessity of changes related to academic formation and professional performance in Physical Education was found, especially regarding the identity of each habilitation and its articulation with the fields of professional performance. |

Buscou-se evidenciar porque professores licenciados estão atuando na academia e não na escola. Realizou-se revisão bibliográfica referente: mercado de trabalho; licenciatura/bacharelado; currículo. Coletaram-se depoimentos de doze profissionais (seis licenciados e seis bacharéis). Constatou-se que os profissionais desconsideram as habilitações para atuação no mercado de trabalho e concebem sua formação inicial como inadequada para atuação na academia. Identificaram-se profissionais que pretendem seguir carreira docente por reconhecer na escola a possibilidade de estabilidade profissional e segurança financeira e, ainda, como uma alternativa de trabalho devido à carreira curta que a academia oferece.
