Resumo: This book review presents the book “The world anesthetization: live in the era of the artistic capitalism” written by Gilles Lipovetsky and Jean Serroy, published in 2015, by Companhia das letras (publishing house). With an instigate analysis and its criticism about the relationship between the esthetic and the world in the capitalist context, the book contributes to the reflections related to the mediation between the Physical Education/ Sport Sciences and the body practices. Nowadays, the impact perceived in the artistic or transaesthetic capitalism in the styles of life, presented, carefully by the authors, allows the comprehension of multiples and widespread individualistic and hedonist ways to take care of himself/herself. This reality is still relevant to the debates among the academic and professional area.

Con una característica crítica, el libro instiga el lector en el cuestionamiento de las relaciones entre la estética y el mundo en el contexto capitalista actual, contribuyendo para las reflexiones acerca de la mediación de la Educación Física/ Ciencias del Deporte con las prácticas corporales. El impacto del capitalismo artista o transestético en las formas de vivir de la actualidad, demostrado cuidadosamente por los autores, permite pensar en variadas y difundidas formas individualistas e hedonistas de cuidar del propio cuerpo. Esa realidad es importante en las discusiones del escenario académico y profesional del área.A presente resenha se refere ao livro “A estetização do mundo: viver na era do capitalismo artista” de Gilles Lipovetsky e Jean Serroy, publicado em 2015 pela editora Companhia das Letras. As análises críticas e instigantes sobre as lógicas que enredam as relações entre a estética e o mundo no contexto capitalista atual contribuem sobremaneira para reflexões acerca da mediação da Educação Física/Ciências do esporte com as práticas corporais.
