Resumo: This article presents and explores a methodology to analyze verbal and verbal-visual logico-semantic relations (LSRs) in picturebooks originally written in English and their translations into Brazilian Portuguese. Drawing on systemic-functional theory (Halliday & Matthiessen, 2014) and on Visual Grammar (Kress & van Leeuwen, 2006), verbal and visual text in picturebooks was annotated and analyzed according to the LSRs identified in them. Results showed differences between the type of LSRs that tend to occur most frequently in verbal-visual texts and in clause complexes: while Expansion_Extension is the most frequent verbal-visual LSR in both the source text and the translated text, Projection_Locution is the most frequent LSR in clause complexes, in the source and translated texts as well. The study contributes a proposal to categorize LSRs in verbal text and LSRs in visual and verbal text that proves to be fully operational for annotation purposes and text analysis.

O estudo contribui com uma proposta para categorizar LSRs em texto verbal e LSRs em texto visual e verbal que se revela totalmente operacional para fins de anotação e análise de texto.UFSC2018-01-15info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionestudo baseado em corpus; análise textualapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.ufsc.br/index.php/desterro/article/view/2175-8026.2018v71n1p5310.5007/2175-8026.2018v71n1p53Ilha do Desterro A Journal of English Language, Literatures in English and Cultural Studies; Vol. 71 No. 1 (2018): The uses of parallel corpora in the stylistic analysis of films and literature for children; 53-76Ilha do Desterro A Journal of English Language, Literatures in English and Cultural Studies; v. 71 n. 1 (2018): The uses of parallel corpora in the stylistic analysis of films and literature for children; 53-762175-80260101-4846reponame:Ilha do Desterroinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC)instacron:UFSCenghttps://periodicos.ufsc.br/index.php/desterro/article/view/2175-8026.2018v71n1p53/35852Copyright (c) 2018 Adriana Silvina Pagano, Flavia Ferreira de Paula, Kícila Ferreguettiinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessPagano, Adriana SilvinaFerreira de Paula, FlaviaFerreguetti, Kícila2018-01-24T12:37:29Zoai:periodicos.ufsc.br:article/49973Revistahttp://www.periodicos.ufsc.br/index.php/desterroPUBhttps://periodicos.ufsc.br/index.php/desterro/oaiilha@cce.ufsc.br||corseuil@cce.ufsc.br||ilhadodesterro@gmail.com2175-80260101-4846opendoar:2018-01-24T12:37:29Ilha do Desterro - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC)false
