REDISCOVERING THE UNFILMED SCREENPLAY OF THE PLAGUE OF THE RUMINANTS

Resumo: This article introduces the unfilmed and unpublished screenplay of The plague of the ruminants, written in 1967 by filmmaker Luiz Sergio Person and critic and screenwriter Jean-Claude Bernardet, based upon the literary work of the same name by José J. Veiga. We introduce some theorical questions regarding the screenplay text, as well as political-ideological and market aspects related to screenplays, and also the discussion about the importance of the screenplay texts and their occasional literary character. After that, we transpose these screenplay-related questions to 1960's Brazil, analyzing how the collaboration between screenwriters Person and Bernardet deals with these problems.

Veiga. Apresentamos algumas questões teóricas referentes ao texto de roteiro cinematográfico, como os aspectos político-ideológicos e mercadológicos subjacentes aos roteiros, além da discussão sobre a importância dos textos de roteiro cinematográfico e seu eventual caráter literário.
