Fonoaudiologia.A fluência da fala é uma habilidade linguística resultante de diferentes fatores, como: hesitações, reformulações, pausas fluentes, taxa de elocução, facilidade na emissão, habilidade gramatical e complexidade semântica. Sendo essas características constituintes da fluência, precisa-se caracterizar como ela ocorre nos falantes. Assim este estudo tem por objetivo investigar as características da fluência presente na fala do florianopolitano. Esta pesquisa foi realizada com moradores das colônias de pescadores do sul da ilha, residentes nas proximidades das praias dos bairros: Tapera, Pântano do Sul e Ribeirão da Ilha. Foi realizado um estudo quantitativo transversal descritivo, com amostra de conveniência. Analisou-se as tipologias de rupturas comuns e gagas, velocidade de fala e a frequência de ruptura. Os achados desta pesquisa foram confrontados com estudos que trazem resultados obtidos por sujeitos fluentes, gagos e taquifêmicos. A variável sexo também foi analisada entre os participantes, bem como a comparação da fluência da fala dos florianopolitanos com a fluência da fala dos sujeitos do estudo de Martins (2007), residentes na cidade de São Paulo e Grande São Paulo. Os resultados mostraram que a tipologia de maior ocorrência foram as interjeições. O florianopolitano apresentou poucas disfluências comuns, tendo valor dentro da normalidade. As disfluências gagas mostraram valor superior ao alcançado por sujeitos fluentes e taquifêmicos, entretanto, tiveram valor inferior ao grupo de sujeitos gagos. A velocidade de fala alcançou valores superiores aos encontrados em sujeitos fluentes, estando próxima ao obtido por sujeitos taquifêmicos. Esse resultado mostra a importância em considerar-se o contexto no qual o sujeito está inserido, para que não ocorram diagnósticos equivocados e a patologização de toda uma população. Os valores de frequência de ruptura, referentes à porcentagem de descontinuidade de fala apresentaram-se dentro do esperado para sujeitos fluentes. A porcentagem de disfluências gagas teve valor superior ao obtido por sujeitos fluentes e inferior ao obtido por sujeitos gagos. Ao comparar os sexos, o sexo feminino possui uma fala com maior velocidade, enquanto o sexo masculino realizou mais tipologias de rupturas e teve maior frequência de ruptura. A análise entre a fluência da fala dos participantes de Florianópolis e a fluência da fala dos sujeitos do estudo de Martins (2007), mostrou que as disfluências comuns e as disfluências gagas foram superiores em sujeitos de São Paulo e Grande São Paulo. Contudo, a velocidade de fala encontrada nos sujeitos de Florianópolis teve valor superior. Os sujeitos da pesquisa de Martins (2007) obtiveram maior porcentagem de descontinuidade de fala. Desta forma, conclui-se que estudos que considerem a variação linguística são de grande importância, visto que, ocorrem modificações na fluência da fala de acordo com a regionalidade dos sujeitos.Speech fluency is a linguistic skill that is a result of different factors, such as: hesitations, reformulations, fluent pauses, speech rate, ease for production, grammatical ability, and semantic complexity. Since these are characteristics that constitute fluency, it is necessary to analyze how they occur in speakers. In this sense, this study aims at investigating the fluency characteristics present in the speech of people from the city of Florianópolis. This piece of research was conducted with inhabitants of the fisher villages in the South of the island, near beaches of the following neighborhoods: Tapera, Pântano do Sul, and Ribeirão da Ilha. A quantitative cross-sectional descriptive study with a convenience sample was conducted. The typologies of common speech disruptions and stuttering, the speech speed, and the disruption frequency were analyzed. The findings of this study were confronted with other pieces of research that include results obtained by fluent, stuttering, and cluttering subjects. The gender variable as well as the comparison between the speech fluency of the participants from Floriánopolis and the one from the subjects in Martins’ study (2007), who were residentes of São Paulo and its surrounding area, were also analyzed. The results showed that the most common typology was the interjection. The participants from Florianópolis presented few common disfluencies with a value that can be considered normal or average. The stuttering disfluencies showed a higher value in comparison to the ones achieved by fluent and cluttering subjects. However, they had a lower value when compared to the stuttering group. Speech speed reached higher values than the ones found in fluent subjects, being closer to the number obtained by cluttering subjects. The results emphasize the importance of considering the context in which the subject is inserted so as to avoid misguided diagnosis and the pathologization of an entire population. The values of disruption frequency related to the percentage of speech discontinuity were within what can be expected from fluent subjects. The percentage of stuttering disfluencies had a much higher level if compared to the one obtained by fluent subjects, and lower when compared to the stuttering subjects. While comparing gender, it was observed that females presented speech with a faster speed, while the males presented more disruption typologies and a higher disruption frequency. The comparative analysis between the speech fluency of the participants from Florianópolis and the speech fluency of the subjects studied by Martins (2007) showed that the common as well as the stuttering disfluencies were higher in subjects from São Paulo and its surrounding area. Nevertheless, the speech speed found in subjects from Florianópolis had a higher value. The subjects in Martins’ study (2007) obtained a higher percentage for speech discontinuity.
