FrancêsEste trabalho investiga as traduções de versos de poetas latinos incluídas na elegia Fumant dans le cristal de André Chénier, examinadas segundo preceitos seletos da Transcriação de Haroldo de Campos. Afere as relações de sentido entre a elegia francesa e versos de Propércio, Ovídio e Virgílio enquanto desvela as estratégias empregadas por Chénier para aliar criação e tradução, observando o delicado equilíbrio entre imitação e invenção. A partir deste estudo de caso pretende-se avaliar como os versos recriados pelo poeta francês se inserem em seu projeto poético, consolidado na chamada théorie d’Imitation Inventrice, defendendo a hipótese de que a presença de versos latinos, além de constituir uma valorização da estética da Antiguidade greco-latina, agrega singulares nuances de significado à elegia estudada. Compreende ainda breve consideração sobre a situação da poesia de André Chénier na literatura francesa do conturbado século XVIII, aspecto que vem sendo amplamente discutido desde a publicação de sua produção poética.This work investigates the translated verses of Latin poets included in André Chénier’s elegy Fumant dans le cristal, evaluated according to selected precepts of Haroldo de Campos’ Transcreation theory. Assesses the relations of meaning between the French elegy and verses by Propertius, Ovid and Virgil while exposing the strategies used by Chénier to conciliate creation and translation, observing the delicate balance between imitation and invention. This case study is conducted with the intention of evaluating how the recreated verses take place in Chénier’s poetic project, consolidated in the théorie d’Imitation Inventrice, defending the hypothesis that the presence of Latin verses, besides constituting an aesthetic valorization of Greek and Latin Antiquity, aggregates singular nuances of meaning to the analysed elegy.
