The perception of the child/adolescent with cerebral paralysis on feeling healthy or ill

Resumo: | Aim: to understand how the child/adolescent with cerebral palsy lives and understands his/her own health and disease process. Method: qualitative research, with phenomenological hermeneutic approach, in the south of Brazil, with eleven children/adolescents with cerebral palsy, from October 2011 to June 2012. The information was collected through phenomenological interviews, analyzed through the hermeneutic approach. Results: the children/adolescents with cerebral palsy understand health as synonym of happiness, emphasizing that the disease is a depriving phenomenon, which interferes with their way of being in everyday activities. However, even with all deprivation, participants perceive themselves as healthy. Final considerations: the children/adolescents reveal themselves as a being-in-the-world with a body image that gives them pleasure, with moral and ethical values. The formation of this positive self-image is influenced by the perspective created by the family in the visualization of becoming- child/adolescent with cerebral palsy. |

Método: estudio cualitativo, de perspectiva fenomenológico-hermenéutico, realizado en el sur de Brasil, con once niños/adolescentes con parálisis cerebral, entre octubre de 2011 y junio de 2012. Los datos fueron recolectados por medio de entrevista fenomenológica, y analizados a partir de la perspectiva hermenéutica. Resultados: los niños/adolescentes con parálisis cerebral comprenden la salud como sinónimo de felicidad, resaltando que la enfermedad se trata de un fenómeno de privación, que interfiere en su modo de ser en las actividades cotidianas. Sin embargo, con todas las privaciones, los participantes se perciben como saludables. Consideraciones Finales: los niños/adolescentes se revelan como un ser-en-elmundo con una imagen corporal que les proporciona placer, con valores morales y éticos. La formación de esta autoimagen positiva es influenciada por la perspectiva creada por la familia en la visualización de venir-a-ser niño/adolescente con parálisis cerebral.Objetivo: compreender como a criança/adolescente com paralisia cerebral vivencia e percebe seu processo de saúde e de doença. Método: pesquisa qualitativa, com abordagem fenomenológica – hermenêutica realizada no sul do Brasil, com onze crianças/adolescentes com paralisia cerebral, de outubro de 2011 a junho 2012. As informações foram coletadas por meio de entrevista fenomenológica, analisadas por meio da abordagem hermenêutica. Resultados: as crianças/adolescentes com paralisia cerebral compreendem a saúde como sinônimo de felicidade, ressaltando que a doença se trata de um fenômeno de privação, que interfere no seu modo de ser nas atividades cotidianas. Entretanto, mesmo com todas as privações, os participantes percebem-se como saudáveis. Considerações Finais: as crianças/adolescentes revelam-se como um ser-no-mundo com uma imagem corporal que lhes proporciona prazer, com valores morais e éticos.
