Bullying in the conception of middle school students in a public school

Resumo: Aim: to identify the conception of middle school students concerning bullying. Methods: it is an action-research, with exploratory descriptive and qualitative approach. It was conducted with 13 6th graders of middle school of a public school at the state of Ceará, in 2013, in which was utilized the participative observation and structured interview to collect information. The ethical principles were respected and it was approved by the Ethics Committee in research. Results: students related bullying to aggression and intimidating attitudes held in the school, unaware of the characters and types of this phenomenon, and most of them had suffered verbal abuse. Since the dimension of this phenomenon is a concerns, it is necessary to incorporate professionals of the health sector to work in the school environment. Conclusion: although the individuals had a background knowledge about bullying, this knowledge was not well contextualized in daily scholar experiences

Para recopilar información la investigación utiliza la observación participante y entrevista estructurada. Fue aprobado en el comité de ética. Resultados: los estudiantes relacionaban el bullying a agresiones y actitudes intimidatorias en la escuela, sin darse cuenta de los personajes y tipos de este fenómeno, aunque la mayoría ya había sufrido algún abuso verbal. Dado que la magnitud de este fenómeno, es necesario incorporar profesionales de la salud para trabajar en el entorno escolar. Consideraciones finales: aunque los estudiantes tenían una concepción previa sobre bullying, esta no se fundamentó en las experiencias cotidianas en la escuela.http://dx.doi.org/10.5902/2179769214795Objetivo: identificar a concepção de estudantes do ensino fundamental de uma escola pública acerca do bullying. Método: trata-se de uma pesquisa-ação, de caráter exploratório-descritivo e abordagem qualitativa. Foi desenvolvida com 13 estudantes do sexto ano do ensino fundamental de uma escola pública do Estado do Ceará, durante o ano de 2013, o qual se utilizou da observação participante e entrevista estruturada para coleta de informações. A pesquisa respeitou os princípios éticos e foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa. Resultados: os estudantes relacionavam o bullying às agressões e atitudes intimidatórias realizadas na escola, desconheciam os personagens e tipos deste fenômeno, sendo que a maioria deles já havia sofrido agressões verbais. Visto a dimensão deste fenômeno é necessário incorporar profissionais do setor saúde para atuarem no ambiente escolar.
