Resumo: There are many Chicano/Latino performers who have successfully targeted their material to attract a large commercial audience: John Leguizamo and Paul Rodríguez immediately come to mind. However, Luis Alfaro continues to focus on the specific spaces of avant-garde performance art. These venues include, primarily, the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles and Highways in Santa Monica, where it is taken for granted that the audience for Alfaro and other artists is made up of individuals aware of performance theories and committed to the transgressive manifestation of body, and who are likely to feel comfortable with productions marked as queer.
