Resumo: The purpose of this work is to analyze representations of gender and power relationships and their interchangings in São Bernardo (1934), by Graciliano Ramos. We focus lexical, grammatical and enunciative chooses on some meaning fragments of the text, interpreting them according to the context in which the human experience representations are built. We emphasize the non symmetrical power relashionships between masculine and feminine universes as a simulacrum of patriarchal and capitalistic practices that represents the historic context in which the work was produced.
