(De)Motivation of the students with the practice of physical education classes: an empiric study with students of the secondary school in Portugal

Resumo: It has as aim to identify if the students are motivated with the Physical Education classes, to notice the reason and to know if the classes generate reinforcement to the enjoyment of practice of physical activities. The sample comprehends 40 students of the 12th year of a secondary school in Braga, Portugal. The enjoyment by the modalities and the practice condition the motivation for the classes. There is a preference to get to know new modalities, because they affirm they always practice the same ones, referred aspects by the intervened group. These findings contribute to think in another Physical Education, that is not a Physical Education focused in Sport and Physical Activity, dominant paradigm in Portugal.

La amuestra abarcó 40 alumnos del 12º año de una escuela secundaria de Braga, Portugal. El gusto por las modalidades y la práctica condicionan la motivación por las clases. Hay la preferencia por conocer nuevas modalidades, porque afirman practicar siempre las mismas, aspectos referidos por el grupo intervenido. Estas constataciones contribuyen para pensamos otra Educación Física, que no una Educación Física enfocada en el Deporte y en la Actividad Física, paradigma predominante en Portugal.Tem-se como objetivo identificar se os alunos estão motivados para as aulas de Educação Física, perceber o porquê e saber se as aulas geram reforço do gosto pela prática de atividades físicas. A amostra abrangeu 40 alunos do 12º ano de uma escola secundária de Braga, Portugal. O gosto pelas modalidades e a prática condicionam a motivação pelas aulas. Há preferência por conhecer novas modalidades, pois afirmam praticar sempre as mesmas, aspetos referidos pelo grupo intervencionado.
