Skin marks: reflections on tattoo, identity, and postmodern schooling

Resumo: The purpose of this article is to establish relationship between tattoo, identity and schooling. To investigate the proposed theme, we have developed a bibliographical research in which, at a first moment, we problematize the different understandings attributed to the identities of the subjects. In a second moment, we highlight the pedagogical potential of the images in post-modern society, and thirdly, we investigated the tattoo as a visual artifact that marks the identity of postmodern individuals. From these topics, we consider that the daily images exert educational functions. Moreover, we identified that in post-modernity, as in previous times, the subjects used the tattoo to mark membership in certain groups and to enhance the aesthetics and beauty of the body.

Para investigar a temática proposta, desenvolvemos uma pesquisa bibliográfica em que, em um primeiro momento, problematizamos as distintas compreensões atribuídas às identidades dos sujeitos; em um segundo, destacamos o potencial pedagógico das imagens na sociedade pós-moderna, e em terceiro, investigamos a tatuagem como artefato visual que marca a identidade dos indivíduos pós-modernos. A partir desses pontos, consideramos que as imagens do cotidiano exercem funções pedagógicas.
