Grammatical metaphors as a resource for packaging in the academic text

Resumo: Academic writing is not an easy task for undergraduates of any course, although they deal with texts of this nature throughout their studies. Many studies have focused on the discussions of reviews, abstracts, introductions of theses and dissertations, in search of their characteristics and ways of construing the meaning of the text. However, the research on the literature review sections is still scarce. To this end, this article, analyzing the theoretical sections of a variety of genres of the Languages/Linguistics area, in the light of the concept of grammatical metaphor (HALLIDAY, 1994; 2004; EGGINS; MARTIN, 1997; TAVERNIERS, 2003; SCHLEPPEGRELL, 2004; RAVELLI, 1988; SARDINHA, 2007), aims to show how thistype of writing is carried out. It also shows how it is possible, through review activities,help students to learn more encapsulated writing, with greater lexical density, a fundamental characteristic for the quality of scientific texts.

Muitos estudos têm se concentrado nas discussões sobre resenhas, abstractse resumos, introduções de teses e dissertações, buscando suas características e modos de construir o significado do texto. No entanto, ainda são escassas as pesquisas que se debruçam sobre a seção de revisão da literatura.
