Resumo: | This paper discusses the relevance of the Appraisal System as a reference for the research on understanding of textbooks / teaching materials by both teachers and students. This system considers the language users’ expression of attitudes, their gradation and engagement. Questions on methodology and data collection are raised as well. It is hoped this article may contribute to the use of Appraisal System as a reference for research related to the use and reception of teaching materials, which may be important for the development of understandings on public education policies. |

Também apresentam-se questões acerca de metodologia e de instrumentos de coleta de informações para pesquisas dessa natureza.
