Resumo: | The present research developed in the scope of the Difference, Education and Culture Research Group (DEC/UFSM/CNPq), aims to investigate the production of ways of being a translator and interpreter of Libras (brazilian sign language) with the emergence of inclusive policies in the country. Supported theoretically and methodologically in poststructural theorizations, more specifically in Michel Foucault's studies, the research proposes as materiality semi-structured interviews with two groups of subjects who work/worked as Libras interpreters: the first constituted by five graduates of the Course of Letters/Libras - Bachelor degree offered by the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC); and the second consisted of five subjects who worked as interpreters before the emergence of inclusive policies and the consequent professionalization of interpreter performance in the country. In the analyzes undertaken in this materiality, it was possible to visualize, from the emergence of inclusive policies, more specifically with the promulgation of Decree no. 5626 of December 22, 2005, which regulates the recognition of Libras, that the discussions about the formation of the translator and interpreter intensified, especially in the educational area, throughout Brazil. As effect it was visualized the recognition of Libras; the ways of engaging with the deaf community; the professionalization of the translator and interpreter in the country were decisive in the production of the ways of being of the professional. The possibilities of the interpreter formation, which were initially determined by living with the deaf community through assistance actions (moving towards militant actions and activists), expand and allow even those who do not have direct relations with the community to act in the area. It is also seen that among those interpreters who are constituted from the interaction with deaf subjects there are those who become involved with the professional contexts and relate strictly professionally with the community; and those who maintain ties with the deaf community, actively working and understanding that this relationship is also important in their job. |
