Environmental education and pedagogical praxis: an analysis of the practices developed in public schools of Natal/RN

Resumo: This article aims to discuss pedagogical experiences in Environmental Education (EE) developed by teachers in public schools of Natal/RN. Under the light of the critical perspective, it is identified and analyzed the theoretic-methodological matrixes that underlies the experiences and, namely, if these experiences compose a pedagogical praxis indeed. As an expressive result of the researched experiences, we could verify that there is a prevalence of the conservative Environmental Education regarding the studied experiences, a theoretical approach characterized by the reductionism in the understanding of the environmental subject and, epistemologically, marked by its biologizingand ecologizingfocus, which does not refer to the economic, political, cultural and social discussions that surrounds the environmental question. This theoretical perspective ignores the interface of the environmental questions with the social dynamic, aside from subjugate the human action in social weave, a circumstance that denies, at the same time, the historical subject.

À luz da perspectiva crítica, são identificadas e analisadas as matrizes teórico-metodológicas que fundamentam as experiências e, a saber, se essas se configuram em uma Práxis pedagógica, de fato. Como resultado expressivo das experiências pesquisadas, constatamos que existe o predomínio da Educação Ambiental conservadora no tocante as experiências estudadas. Abordagem teórica caracterizada pelo reducionismo na compreensão do tema ambiental e, epistemologicamente, marcada pelo seu enfoque biologizante e ecologizante, o qual não se remete às discussões econômicas, políticas, culturais e sociais que envolvem a questão ambiental.
