TEXTUAL MEANINGS IN NEWS AND EDITORIAL ON “NINHO DO URUBU” FIRE: A SYSTEMIC-FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS

Resumo: This article aims to present a reflection on the grammatical structure Theme in news and editorial genres, following the Systemic-Functional Linguistics orientation, within textual metafunction. From this perspective, the types of Theme are examined in a news and an editorial of the newspaper O Globo on the tragedy at Flamengo’s accommodation in 2019. Based on the assessment of the thematic structures in these texts, it is intended to demonstrate that, by contrast, more Simple Themes occur in the first, while in the second, there are more cases of Multiple Themes, proving that the communicative purposes of different genres have a decisive influence on the thematic realization of the texts.

Sob essa perspectiva, são examinados os tipos de Tema em uma notícia e um editorial do jornal O Globo sobre a tragédia no alojamento do Flamengo, ocorrida em 2019.
