In this essay, we aimed to analyze the relationship between work and subjectivity, highlighting the psychosocial impacts of the Coronavirus disease pandemic (COVID-19) - and social distancing to reduce the transmissibility of the disease - for the worker’s mental health, in addition to reflect on coping possibilities during and after this period. We start from a view on subjectivity and contemporaneity based on the humanistic-phenomenological approach in psychology, emphasizing work as the basic ontological foundation of man and the meaning it has for life in society. When reaching the field of forces in which subjectivity is constituted in the context of the pandemic and social distancing, and, defending an ethics of collective action, we present possibilities of change in the worker’s ways of being, feeling, thinking and acting. We concluded, mainly, that the subject’s capacity for transformation can make it possible that, collectively, workers can weave new meanings, learning from the lessons of the current scenario, internalizing new values and reinventing themselves.
