Resumo: This work presents an analysis of the movie Moonlight, directed by director Barry Jenkins, focusing on the emotional suffering and difficult life experience faced by the character Chiron, a black, homosexual and poor boy whose experience is represented by bullying, prejudice and lack of family background as a background. The central character of the plot grows in a violent neighborhood of Miami, under the influence of a mother using drugs, a local drug dealer who teaches him lessons of experience and the girlfriend of the trafficker who always welcomes him in the most difficult moments. Chiron must deal with the hostility of his friends and family because of his different way of behaving in society and the way he sees the world. The boy grows up and during his adolescence is arrested. After leaving, he also becomes a drug dealer, however, he meets Kevin, a childhood friend who introduced him to the homosexual world during the plot. The film demonstrates the difficulty of society in understanding and accepting homosexuality, and the emotional suffering that homosexuals are subjected to when their initial living spaces are not welcoming.   Key words: Emotional suffering; LGBT; Homosexuality; Prejudice; Bullying.
