Resumo: | This article has as its main objective the analysis of a film production under the scope of the psychoanalytic theory. Regarding its method, it is a qualitative, descriptive research, outlined as a film analysis that has intentionally taken the film The killing of a sacred deer as its object of analysis. In a first moment of this study, it has been stablished possible relations between psychoanalysis and art, specifically the cinema. Secondly, some of the film elements have been discussed under the scope of psychoanalytic concepts. Themes as the constitution of the subject and its alienation have been discussed from a comprehensive approach of the cinema. About the results of the film analysis, it is understood that the master’s discourse operates from master signifiers (S1), and, because of that, the subjects tend to put themselves under the disposition of interlocutors, adhering to signifiers enunciated from the Other. The guilt felt by the patriarch of the family, pictured in the movie, appears to extend to all of his family members, putting the spectator in front of characters that show themselves conformed and submissive to the inevitable ritual of sacrifice that is imputed to them. |

Quanto ao método, trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, descritiva, delineada como análise fílmica a qual tomou, intencionalmente, a obra O sacrifício do cervo sagrado como objeto de análise. Em um primeiro momento do estudo se estabeleceu, teoricamente, as possibilidades de relação entre psicanálise e a arte, mais especificamente o cinema. Em segundo momento se discorreu sobre os elementos fílmicos à luz de conceitos psicanalíticos, sendo abordados, a partir da abordagem compreensiva do cinema, temas referentes à constituição do sujeito e ao processo de alienação. No que se refere aos resultados da reflexão em tela, entende-se que o discurso do mestre opera a partir de significantes mestres (S1) e, por esta razão, o sujeito tende a se colocar à disposição de interlocutores, aderindo aos significantes enunciados pelo Outro.
