Resumo: | The meaning of an enunciation is determined from the arguments expressed on it, linked by connectors. Based on that, this study analyzes how the meaning of connector "but" triggers the enunciation of advertisements diffused by Brazilian banking institutions. That is, how the connector "but" gains different meanings according to the construction of the statement. The analyses can be used for more effective work with texts among preschoolers. We used the studies of Ducrot and Carel (2008), Carel (2005; 2009), and other researchers dedicated to Argumentative Semantics as theoretical support. The results showed that, depending on the construction of the statement, the connector triggers different meanings, either the one prone to transgression or normativity. Therefore, the analyses can guide teachers since meaning can be analyzed from the organization of the linguistic elements of the enunciation. |
