Resumo: This paper will treat on the Certified Translator and Commercial Interpreter (TPIC)’s work, regulated since 1943 by Decree-Law no 13.609, and on the content of the Bill no 4625/2016, now pending, which aims at significantly altering the TPIC’s career, likely to cause severe risks to the national legal security. A proposal of university training relevant to all of those who shall enter such position will be put forward, with the purpose of promoting the desirable continuing improvement for professionals working in this difficult segment of the translation workforce.
