Care and education of babies and young children: a look inside the daycare center

Resumo: The objective of this article is to present an analysis of how the realization of the pedagogical political project with theoretical basis contributes to the care and education of babies and children up to three years oldto be conceptualized as a unit for the teaching practice and professionals of Early Childhood Education. The focus is on the contributions of pedagogical management – coordination and direction – to the daily challenge of carrying out continuing education actions, based on the guiding document of the Early Childhood Education Institutions. As from the precepts of Historical-Cultural Theory, the study makes a dialectical analysis of the pedagogical actions in the daycare center, considering the movement between theory and practice. Results of analysis points possibilities of implementing the political-pedagogical project as a condition for the potentially humanizing educational practice in Early Childhood Education Institutions. Only an understanding of the value of education in the humanization process, through theoretical and scientific knowledge about how babies and young children learn, considering the essential role of the inseparable actions of care and education in this process can guide the thinking, feeling and acting of teachers and of other educators in their daily work at the daycare center.

O foco está nas contribuições da gestão pedagógica – coordenação e direção – para o desafio diário de organizar ações de formação continuada com base no documento norteador das instituições de Educação Infantil. A partir de preceitos da Teoria Histórico-Cultural, o estudo realiza uma análise dialética das ações pedagógicas na creche, considerando o movimento entre teoria e prática. Os resultados da análise apontam para as possibilidades de concretização do projeto político-pedagógico como condição para uma prática educativa potencialmente humanizadora na creche.
