Corporeity and dialectics of oppression/liberation: pedagogical-philosophical approximations to the perspective of the Freirean “being more”

Resumo: This article is the result of a conference ministered on April 2, 2021 in the virtual room of the Group of Environmental Dialogic Education (Gead) of the Federal University of Ceará. It is a reflection that emerged in the field of School Physical Education that aimed to establish a dialectical relationship between the notion of “being more” in Paulo Freire and of Corporeity as a way of presenting the human being in the world as a subject of praxis. Therefore, we start from the observation that for this author the human being cannot and should not be conceived as a duality “mind/body” or “spirit/body” for being a reproducer of binary and dichotomized world views. And that the overcoming of this type of ideological vision, related to mechanisms of alienation and oppression, implies the construction of a unitary Popular Education, not unilateral, capable of facing and breaking the foundations of such mechanisms, and its corresponding materialization in the form of “cultures of silence”. In this context, Freire would coin the notion of “being more” from which he would also make explicit, in our understanding, a dialectical conception of corporeality

Trata-se de uma reflexão surgida no campo da Educação Física Escolar que teve como objetivo estabelecer uma relação dialética entre a noção do “ser mais” em Paulo Freire e de Corporeidade enquanto forma de apresentação do ser humano no mundo como sujeito de práxis. Para tanto, partimos da constatação de que para este autor o ser humano não pode nem deve ser concebido como uma dualidade “mente/corpo” ou “espírito/corpo” por ser reprodutora de visões binárias e dicotomizadas de mundo. E de que a superação deste tipo de visão ideológica, relacionada com mecanismos de alienação e opressão, implica a construção de uma Educação Popular unitária, não unilateral, capaz de enfrentar e quebrar os alicerces de tais mecanismos, e sua correspondente materialização na forma de “culturas de silêncio”.
