Sustainable agriculture: favoring healthy environments and female empowerment

Resumo: This article is part of the activities carried out in the extension project “Education for Transformation: Environment, Health and Gender”, which aims to promote sustainable food production systems and implement organic production practices that help maintain the quality of ecosystems and the health of the population in the municipality of Itajaí, State of Santa Catarina. In order to promote the transition to sustainable agriculture, the objective of this article is to present the different strategies adopted in 2018 by the participants for the dynamization and maintenance of organic production modes with emphasis on agroecology, rural areas and women to achieve autonomy and empowerment. The methodology used is based on educational actions in accordance with the pedagogical proposals of education, from the perspective of Paulo Freire, inspired by the Culture Circle. According to the women, the activities of the project have provided a transformation in the way of life, financial autonomy, valorization of family agriculture, food security, health and consequently achieving happiness and well-being. In this way, it was possible to highlight the importance of the participation of women in the development and strengthening of the community, favoring their empowerment and the resignification of identity.

Com o intuito de promover a transição para uma agricultura sustentável, o objetivo que norteia este artigo é apresentar as diferentes estratégias adotadas, no ano 2018, pelos participantes para a dinamização e manutenção dos modos de produção orgânica com ênfase na agroecologia, nos espaços rurais e urbanos, para que as mulheres alcancem a autonomia e o empoderamento. A metodologia empregada é pautada em ações educativas de acordo com as propostas pedagógicas de educação, na perspectiva de Paulo Freire, inspirada no Círculo de Cultura. Segundo as mulheres, as atividades do projeto têm proporcionado uma transformação no modo de vida, autonomia financeira, valorização da agricultura familiar, segurança alimentar, saúde e consequentemente alcançando a felicidade e o bem-estar.
