Being black in Brazil: a reflection about the exposure “We are all black now?”

Resumo: The main objective of this study was to analyze and reflect on being black in Brazil in the face of the exhibition “Are we all black now?” which was curated by artist Daniel Lima. The justification for this study arises from the question of the title of the exhibition, which asks about being black and makes people reflect on color/race in Brazil as a challenge in society. The methodological path chosen for this work took place through analysis of the exhibition and information gathering. To carry out this methodological procedure, some sites, photographs exposed in the exhibition and authors’ literature. The conclusive results point out that “Are we all black now?” was extremely relevant, presents an idea of ​​confrontation against institutionalized racism in Brazil. From the point of view of blackness and the deconstruction of the impact of colonization and slavery.

A justificativa deste estudo surge a partir da questão do título da exposição, que indaga sobre o ser negra/negro e faz refletir sobre cor/raça no Brasil como um desafio na sociedade. O percurso metodológico escolhido neste trabalho aconteceu por meio de análise da exposição e levantamento de informações. Para realizar esse procedimento metodológico, foram analisados alguns sites, fotografias expostas na exposição e literatura.
