Quota system: the perspective of teachers at the Federal Institute of Pernambuco

Resumo: This article investigates the quota system. Considered by many to be a public policy that works in theory differently from practice, others consider it an important tool for social inclusion. Data collection was carried out through the application of a questionnaire and the analysis was performed with the percentage of responses from the participating teachers’ opinions. The results indicated that teachers see the quota system as an instrument of social inclusion. Therefore, the conclusion was that this public policy is further discussed and expanded, demonstrating a path of possibilities and advances allowing the democratization of education for citizens from different social classes, places, and scenarios.

Considerado por muitos uma política pública de difícil aplicabilidade, há também aqueles que a consideram uma importante ferramenta de inclusão social. A coleta de dados foi feita por meio de um questionário e a análise foi realizada considerando as respostas dos professores participantes. Os resultados indicaram que os professores veem o sistema de cotas como um instrumento de inclusão social.
