Resumo: The objective of this study is to analyze how the process of school education related to the project of construction of professional and technological education, portrayed in the Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology, has been historically constructed. The research of a bibliographical nature was carried out in the year 2016, based on the knowledge produced between 2000 and 2015 in the Scielo (Scientific Electronic Library Online) database and in the IBICT (Instituto Brasileiro de Information in Science and Technology). The results show that basic training that ensures training for the exercise of citizenship can lead to the transformation of society, so that it demands education for the future, as well as providing basic education integrated with vocational and technological training.

A pesquisa, de natureza bibliográfica, foi realizada no ano de 2016, a partir dos conhecimentos produzidos entre 2000 e 2015 na base de dados do Scielo (Scientific Eletronic Library Online) e na base de dados do IBICT (Instituto Brasileiro de Informações em Ciência e Tecnologia).
