Resumo: | How to ask? our historical consciousness? In the last years, some important general diagnoses have been proposed and we have few empirical surveys. I would like to question the ways in which the contemporary novel imagined the historian. Analyzing the way in which this figure appears as assiduity (from George Eliott’s Middlemarch (1872) to Tous les noms, by Joseph Saramago) allows us to inquire about how novelists see the historian and his relations with memory. keywords: memory; literature; historical consciousness. |
