EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL: CONCEPÇÕES E PRÁTICAS DE PROFESSORES DE ESCOLAS PÚBLICAS DE ITUIUTABA-MG

Resumo: | The environmental education emerges in a context that derives from the inappropriate usage of collective goods in different temporal-spatial scales. Thus, the need to create conscientious citizens who are committed to social-environmental issues is one of the biggest challenges concerning this century’s environmental education. In this respect, this research aimed to comprehend the concepts, and the environmental education practices of the teachers at public schools in Ituiutaba – MG. The methodological procedures that sustained this study were centered in theoretical reviews of theses, dissertations, books and articles that approach the present topic; literature research from the schools’ educational-political projects (Projetos Político Pedagógicos – PPP), in addition to interviews with different teachers from the last years of elementary school. The collected data was organized, systematized and analyzed. That made it possible to determine the dominance of naturalist and anthropocentric views concerning the teachers’ environmental perception. From that, we could realize that the perception of environmental education of those surveyed is nestled in the conservative perspective scope. That was possible the moment they showed a strong concern about the conservation and preservation of natural sources. On the other hand, understanding the environmental conflict requires a complex view on environment. |

Assim, a necessidade de formar cidadãos comprometidos com as questões socioambientais é um dos grandes desafios da educação ambiental neste século. Neste sentido a pesquisa objetivou compreender as concepções e as práticas de educação ambiental dos professores em escolas públicas do município de Ituiutaba-MG. Os procedimentos metodológicos que ampararam o estudo foram centrados na revisão teórica em teses, dissertações, livros e artigos que abordam a temática do trabalho, pesquisa documental com a consulta dos Projetos Político-Pedagógicos (PPPs) das unidades escolares, além de entrevistas com os professores de diferentes disciplinas do ensino fundamental dos anos finais. Os dados obtidos foram organizados, sistematizados e analisados sendo possível constatar o predomínio das visões naturalista e antropocêntrica na percepção ambiental dos docentes. As concepções de educação ambiental dos entrevistados situadas no âmbito da perspectiva conservadora demonstraram uma forte preocupação com a preservação e conservação dos recursos naturais. Compreender a problemática ambiental requer uma visão complexa de meio ambiente em que a natureza integre uma rede de relações não apenas naturais, mas também sociais e culturais.
