LAND USE AND COVER CHANGES IN THE MICRO-BASIN OF AN AMAZONIAN STREAM BETWEEN 1987 AND 2018

Resumo: | Several cities suffer from disorderly urban expansion, favored by spontaneous human occupations that generally contribute to environmental degradation. This research aimed to identify and analyze the spatial and temporal dynamics of land use and land cover changes, between 1987 and 2018, in the microbasin of a stream in the Brazilian Amazon. For this, the method included techniques for digital processing of remote sensing images, as well as an in loco visit to strategic points on the main course of the igarapé, classification supervised by the Maximum Likelihood algorithm and images from the Landsat 5 TM and Landsat 8 OLI satellites. The results show the loss of dense vegetation and the considerable increase in built-up areas or areas with exposed soil. In this sense, it is concluded that the environment has suffered profound human intervention in the last 31 years, without any kind of repair of the native vegetation. |

Esta pesquisa objetivou identificar e analisar as dinâmicas espacial e temporal das mudanças de uso e cobertura do solo, entre 1987 e 2018, na microbacia de um igarapé na Amazônia brasileira. Para isso, o método incluiu técnicas de processamento digital de imagens de sensoriamento remoto, bem como visita in loco a pontos estratégicos do curso principal do igarapé, classificação supervisionada pelo algoritmo Máxima Verossimilhança e imagens dos satélites Landsat 5 TM e Landsat 8 OLI. Os resultados mostram a perda da vegetação densa e o aumento considerável das áreas edificadas ou com solo exposto.
