Social diversity in school: public school students in Uberlândia

Resumo: | The sociological perspective on the educational phenomenon relies on contemporary social practices, which in its turn, is distinguished by social diversity. Aiming to modify the visible evidences, this study starts in the same environment: the public High Schools in Uberlândia-MG, where is found a supposedly homogenous student’s profiles, and search, through a social economic diagnosis, to identify their idiosyncrasies besides its similarities. In order to identify the nuances of young people profiles, the study was based on stratifying the sample by geographic region of the city. From the results of the quantitative research on the variables age, sex, ethnicity, religion, income and work, different meanings about the economic, social and cultural dimensions of young students are revealed. |

Dans le but de dénaturaliser les preuves apparentes, cette étude part du même environnement: le lycée public d’Uberlândia-MG, où, a priori, il y aurait un profil d’élève standard, et cherche, à travers un diagnostic socio-économique, à identifier ses particularités au-delà leurs similitudes. Afin d'identifier les nuances des profils des jeunes, il s'est appuyé sur la stratification de l'échantillon par zone géographique de la ville. À partir des résultats de l’enquête sur les variables âge, sexe, l’ethnie, religion, revenu et travail, différentes significations sur les dimensions économiques, sociales et culturelles des jeunes lycéens sont révélées.O olhar sociológico sobre o fenômeno educação é caudatário da dinâmica das práticas sociais contemporâneas, cuja marca é a diversidade social. Com o objetivo de desnaturalizar as evidências aparentes, este estudo parte de um mesmo ambiente: escola pública de Ensino Médio de Uberlândia-MG, onde a priori vige um perfil discente padrão, e busca, por meio de um diagnóstico socioeconômico, identificar suas idiossincrasias para além de suas similaridades. Visando identificar as nuances de perfis dos jovens, apoiou-se na estratificação da amostra por região geográfica da cidade.
